NANGARHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Anne MacDonald, deputy to the commanding general of the Afghan National Police Development, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, congratulates new recruits at Afghanistan’s first female exclusive ANP training center in Jalalabad. MacDonald attended the grand opening to celebrate a new evolution in security for the country. The facility was dedicated to the memory of Malalai Kakar, who was assassinated by the Taliban in 2008, and revered as a pioneer for women’s freedoms in Afghanistan and served as the deputy commander for the ANP in Kandahar.
