May 9, 2014 has been designated a National #DayofHonour to remember the efforts of those who served in the Afghanistan mission.
The Canadian Armed Forces mission in Afghanistan [officially] came to a close in March 2014. More than 40,000 brave men and women served in our country’s military efforts in the region over the years and 158 gave their lives in the cause of peace and freedom.

"Now it's our turn to stand on guard for thee..."
Any of my long term readers know that I remember and honour ALL our Heroes and their families every.day.of.the.year. However, today is the day that our politicians have designated as a National Day of Honour and there are all sorts of ceremonies going on - predominantly in Ottawa, the nationals capital, and yes, presided over by the politicians.
I am blessed to know a few Fallen Hero's Families, and Veterans, who will be in Ottawa, and it is them I shall be thinking of today. My heart will be with them..

Every name on this list IS loved and missed. EVERY Soldier who made it home to their families deserves - has earned - our gratitude and respect for their Service to our country. Every.single.day.

Who stand and fight for freedom
So we can live in peace right here at home
Live in peace at home "
