OP/Ed: Obama, Holder, Sharpton - Shame on YOU

On December 20 - yesterday afternoon -  these two New York Police Department Officers were executed by a hate-filled racist pig.

This coward, who had also just killed a woman, heeded the call of the race-baiters, and went looking for cops to kill.

“They were, quite simply, assassinated,” a shaken NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said Saturday night.

The shooter — identified as Ismaaiyl Brinsley — boasted about wanting to murder cops in the hours before he ambushed the officers outside the Tompkins Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant about 2:45 p.m.

“I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours ... let’s take 2 of theirs,” Brinsley, 28, wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of a silver handgun.

He also included three hashtags: ShootThePolice, RIPErivGarner (sic) and RIPMikeBrown.

“This may be my final post ... I’m putting pigs in a blanket.”

At that link, deBlasio (Mayor of New York) says this in the aftermath of the slaughter:

[...]

...described the double murder as “an assassination” and a “despicable act.”

It “goes at the very heart of our society and our democracy,” he added. “When a police officer is murdered, it tears at the fabric of our society.”

Mr deBlasio, why don't you tell THAT to those racist mobs who yell "What do we want?  Dead Cops.  When do we want it? Now!"  Yes, those chants were being said on the streets of America, as that coward murdered the two Hero Police Officers.

Flashback to one week ago in NYC:

As the demonstrations have continued, no word from either Obama (guess none of the cops could be his son), Holder and Al Sharpton said nary a word to denounce this call for open hunting season on Police Officers whose sworn duty is to Serve and Protect ALL Americans.

Go look what Sharpton was telling DeBlasio back in August  (Warning: It IS disgusting) Sharpton warns de Blasio: I’ll be your worst enemy

Now?  Race-baiter Sharpton has apparently released a statement:

Of COURSE he plans another press conference.  That, and agitating is what Sharpton does best.  Never mind, NO matter what else spews forth from his hateful mouth, he and his ignorant, racist rhetoric is directly responsible for the death of these two Officers.  Period.

Ignorant?  Absolutely, and it has not gone unremarked that these two Officers were not even white cops.

On Twitchy was this:

Lost in the rhetoric: The two cops killed yesterday were Hispanic and Asian.
Where's the activists to lead marches on their behalf?
Damn good question.

What about these two?  Well, I am still waiting for Holder to send his 'investigators' directly to New York.  No, not holding my breath.

Meanwhile,   it seems that Obama took time out from his busy Saturday night schedule to release a statement:

I unconditionally condemn today’s murder of two police officers in New York City.

Two brave men won’t be going home to their loved ones tonight, and for that, there is no justification.

The officers who serve and protect our communities risk their own safety for ours every single day – and they deserve our respect and gratitude every single day.

Tonight, I ask people to reject violence and words that harm, and turn to words that heal – prayer, patient dialogue, and sympathy for the friends and family of the fallen. [emphasis mine]

Interestingly, this has not made it to the official White site yet (yes, I did check) I found it at the Chicago Sun Times - you know, the city where on a daily basis innocents are slaughtered in anonymity, and not a word from the politicians.  Too bad the Mouth In Chief - you know, the one who has always been touted as the 'great unifer'  - and his minions,  do not encourage such rejection of hatred and race-baiting by their ACTIONS.

Meanwhile, two more families are left to mourn the loss of their loved ones.

My heart is hurting for this young man and all who love these two Fallen Police Officers.  My heart aches for all those in the NYPD who even today are  putting on their uniforms and going out into the deadly streets to Serve and Protect.  On their shifts there is no black or white skin, there is NO politics.  There is - God and the race-baiter cowards willing - survival, and going home to hug the family.

NO words from anybody can change what happened yesterday - the huge holes left in our world because of ignorance.  Nothing I can do will bring back these brave young men.

And I am sick about it.

Claudia E. Thomas speaks for me when she says:

Our hearts go out to our Brothers and Sisters who see the face of evil daily ... For our brothers, Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu - never again shall you need deal with the insanity of this world ... Soar with angels and thank you! May your families be surrounded with the prayers of millions who cry out in our anguish with them for an end to the evil that permeates our lands.

Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu's watch may be done here on earth, and I wish I could believe that their loss would herald an end to the deadly racist evil parading the streets of America.  The realist in me knows this will not happen.

Again from Claudia:

THERE ARE NEW THREATS BEING MADE TOWARDS NYPD OFFICERS via Instagram, etc. If you become aware of a threat - take action and not just re-post this stuff. Call 1-888-NYC-SAFE which is the terrorism hot line for the NYPD. The Instagram user, "woodgramflexinn" has made new threats. DO NOT call in this one as I've already checked and the NYPD is aware of him. IF YOU SEE OTHER threats, to the NYPD, call the above. For other agencies, look up the number and CALL IT IN! The what if's involved had someone called in the threats by today's murderer are endless. STAY SAFE BROTHERS & SISTERS ... We got your 6!

I echo her call, and I stand with ALL our Police Officers, and pray for their safety.

May these two Fallen Heroes Rest In Eternal Peace.

What part of ILLEGAL is legal?

...cries she
'
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I am soooooo confused! As an alien living outside of the United States of America, I am having a very hard time understanding the fever pitched furore about the current proposed Arizona law which aims to stem the tsunami of illegal immigrants into America.

Across the land, and via the airwaves, protests are being held almost daily screaming about the rights, and plight, of these illegal aliens. Janet Napolitano says she hasn't read the Arizona bill, but that she wouldn't sign on with it even if she had, and AG Holder suggests that the federal government may challenge the 'constitutionality' of Governor Brewer's commonsense approach to an issue which the feds themselves have neglected for years.

Good luck with that!

From political commentators, to high school students, to sports teams, to state governments, it seems everybody has an opinion. Most of the rhetoric seems to be based on ignorance, and some of it is downright ugly AND unAmerican.

Yes, that is in America - California's Montebello High School to be precise. That was back in 2006 and was part of a protest against then proposed immigration reform. The school administration rushed to declare that it wasn't Montebllo students that did this, but other students from throughout the district amassing at that school.

Be that as it may, the issue of illegal immigration to the US has intensified. The current urgency for all border states to deal with the illegals coming in to America was brought to a head in March 2010 when Arizona rancher Rob Krentz was brutally murdered by illegal aliens on his property.

Illegal Immigrant Suspected in Murder of Arizona Rancher

By William La Jeunesse

- FOXNews.com

Robert Krentz was known among fellow ranchers as a good Samaritan who often helped injured illegal immigrants trying to cross the boiling desert border into Arizona. But the 58-year-old was gunned down while tending to his ranch Saturday morning, and police suspect an illegal immigrant was to blame.

Given the number of illegal aliens who walk across the 2,000 mile border between Mexico and the US, it was - and IS - a miracle that not more Americans are killed by these illegal thugs. I found a site called Border Invasion Pics and the videos of the huge numbers of illegals aliens walking in to America unimpeded are mindboggling.

A massive number of people illegally enter the USA every day by simply walking unchallenged across our southern border. In the 1952 miles of border from California to Texas they use literally thousands of trails and paths, ever changing their routes to avoid detection. Cartel involvement has brought increased organizational skills to smuggling operations and, contrary to government claims, only a very small percentage are apprehended. Accurate statistics are impossible to gather, but the true numbers are staggering, and the general public remains largely uninformed.

Go look. The numbers ARE staggering. For itemised lists of numbers, AND videos of them crossing the border, go spend some time here. If you watch nothing else there, be sure to watch this specific video here. Be informed.

As stated above, Napolitano admits she hasn't read the Arizona law, but:
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano admits she hasn't read the Arizona immigration law, but passed judgment on it anyway. "That's not the kind of law I would have signed," she declared.

"I believe it's a bad law enforcement law. I believe it mandates and requires local enforcement and puts them in a position many do not want to be placed in," Napolitano said.

"When I was dealing with laws of that ilk, most of the law enforcement agencies in Arizona at that time were opposed to such legislation," she claimed. (If you must, go watch the video of her here)

There are a few Governors (and former Governors) and scholars who would beg to differ with Ms Napolitano:

Be sure to go over to Michelle Malkin, too, and read what she has to say about it all here, in Brewer and Palin: Secure the Border!

Kris Kobach, law professor, and one of the writers of the Arizona law, has this to say:

Arizona Immigration Law Identical to Federal Laws Requiring Alien Documentation, Says Attorney

Wednesday, May 05, 2010
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

Kris Kobach, law professor and former immigration and border security adviser to Attorney General John Ashcroft, helped craft Arizona's new immigration bill. (Photo from Kobach's Web site)

(CNSNews.com) – One of the men who helped write Arizona’s new immigration law said he’s confident it will withstand legal challenges, because the law specifically addresses issues such as racial profiling, which are likely to be the basis of state or federal lawsuits.

“I’m confident Arizona will prevail,” Kris Kobach said Wednesday in a conference call with reporters. Kobach is a constitutional law professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and served as chief adviser to former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft on immigration law and border security.

Kobach said criticism that the Arizona law will impose new requirements on non-citizens to carry documents proving their status is unfounded, given that every non-citizen in the United States has been required to carry such documents since Congress passed the Alien Registration Act in 1940.

“It has been a federal crime for aliens to fail to keep certain registration documents on their person,” Kobach said, adding that the Arizona law simply makes it illegal in Arizona to violate that federal law.

All the new bill does is make Arizona law mirror federal immigration law, Kobach said.

He said that any claims of an “equal protection violation” –- or racial profiling -– is also addressed in Arizona HB2162, which was signed into law last month by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer....(more here)

So Napolitano says she hasn't read the law, and Holder says that even though he has only "glanced at it, " that 'a federal court challenge to a new Arizona law aimed at curbing illegal immigration isn’t out of the question.' What does this law say exactly? For a full text go here. (If you want the synopsis, go here.)

I promise you it is much shorter than the Obama Health Bill; you know, the one that nobody seems to have read - maybe because it was a gazillion pages long! This bill is less than 20 pages long, and throughout it stresses that it is an enforcement of the FEDERAL law which I always thought was the law of America. Guess not, since so many federal politicians are in an uproar.

It also seems, to my alien eyes, to be an affirmation of the provisions of the Smith Act, or the Alien Registration Act, which has been the law of America for many decades. That Act originated during the time of what was perceived as a communist threat within America's borders, but the most basic premise of the Alien Registration Act still holds validity today. Bottom line is that all aliens in the US must carry on their person registration papers proving their status, and thereby their legal right to be IN America. Nothing draconian about that, to my way of thinking. I must confess that until I came to north America, I had never carried any ID. These days I often leave home with no ID, but I can, and would, produce documents proving my legal right to be here if asked. And no, I would not scream 'racial profiling', nor play the victim card. Seems to be that all the weeping and wailing - and claims of victimhood - by the very vocal illegal alien protestors are woefully misplaced. One of the most recent - dare I say pathetic - illegal aliens screaming about being denied her 'rights,' is a woman who wants to be given state aid so she can go to UC Berkeley - maybe that was her first mistake!

Girl who came to U.S. illegally can't get loans

FONTANA - Gladys Castro has all the numbers needed to get into UC Berkeley - except one.

Although the 17-year-old Kaiser High School senior carries a 4.09 grade-point average and has been accepted to the university, she cannot apply for government loans because she's an illegal immigrant and doesn't have a Social Security number.

"I don't know how I'm going to pay for school," she said. "All I want is a chance."

Castro said less than a year ago, one Kaiser High administrator refused to sign a petition supporting federal college aid for illegal immigrants, supposedly saying that they don't deserve to go to American universities.

"I just started crying," Castro said.

[...]

Gladys Castro, 17, of Fontana, wipes tears as she talks earlier this month about her struggle to pursue a higher education after she graduates from high school in Fontana. "I don know how I m going to pay for school," she said. "All I want is a chance." (Thomas R. Cordova/Staff Photographer)
chance on a high school diploma.

"California has already dumped $100,000 in free education (on her)," said Robert Rector, a senior research fellow at the Washington, D.C.-based Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. "If you want to be tough about it, you can ask for it to be repaid."

Castro smiles wide and talks fast when asked about her plans to major in political science at the campus she has visited three times.

But the reality of having to pay more than $30,000 in fees per academic year often quenches her enthusiasm to the point of tears, leaving her to ponder a future without a college degree.

When she was 8 years old, her family fled the crime and violence of their hometown in Jalisco, Mexico....(more here)

I am not blaming her because her family illegally entered America when she was just a little girl. Seems to me, though, that now that she is an adult, and has also had the benefit of a free education to this point, she should perhaps make it a priority to apply for legal status in her own right. No, I am not an immigration lawyer, but I do see the irony in her chosen field of studies: political science. Maybe she could use her journey through the immigration process as the thesis for a PoliSci paper. Just a thought.

In my view, it appears that the heart of America has been victimised by the millions of illegals who demand rights that are not theirs to demand, unless and until they abide by the American laws they are so eager to denigrate. Quite apart from the murder of the Arizona rancher on his own property, there are many cases of illegals murdering and raping American citizens. Truth be told, if these illegal criminal aliens were not on American soil, I suggest that many American families would not have fallen prey to their total disregard of American law. That disregard is evident the first step they take across the border, attempting to bypass legal immigration procedures.

In case you think it is just Mexicans illegally entering America, think again. Yes, illegal Mexican immigrants are a drain on many states' economies. That data is far too extensive to get into here, but look it up. I did, and again, the drain on every states' coffers - both in services supplied for illegals, to which they are not entitled as non Americans - is mindboggling. However, the threat from illegal aliens goes far beyond their economic impact. Surely by now everybody with even half a brain cell recognises that illegal immigrants are a security threat to America.

A news team out of Atlanta did a couple of news reports that everybody should watch. It's in two parts, and they don't have embed links, so go to WSBTV here and here to watch both parts.

There really is so much ignorance on display about this Arizona law, and that ignorance is not restricted to just politicians like the Mayor of Phoenix who calls the law "criminal," "wrong" and "racist." (here)

Does it surprise anyone that big sports 'stars' are - again - showing their ignorance and wading into political waters without a clue? Case in point on the Arizona law is the Phoenix Suns NBA team, who now apparently are sporting t-shirts saying 'Los Suns' or some such thing to support illegal immigrants. However, at least one journalist is showing some commonsense and actually seems to know the issues, and how the Arizona law is going to address those issues:

It used to be easy to spot a racist. They wore white hoods with eyeholes cut out.

Now they wear Arizona Diamondbacks caps.

At least that's the message from opponents of Arizona's new immigration law. They are calling for fans to picket Diamondbacks games. They want the 2011 All-Star Game moved from Phoenix. They want teams to move their spring training sites out of Arizona.

Boycott Fever -- Catch It!

Sorry, I can't. And I hope you'll think twice before making a picket sign.

That would be once more than the boycott crowd. It looked at the bill and quickly distilled Arizona's motives by using standard reactionary math:

New Law + Immigrants = Racism.

If anything, a boycott should be aimed at the Nationals. Washington's spineless politicians forced Arizona to take the law into its own hands before the state turned into one big O.K. Corral.

Critics can't be bothered with such complexities. They are saying Hanley Ramirez will be treated like Rodney King the next time he gets to Phoenix.

The Major League Baseball players' union has come out against the law. It is shocked that a player "must be ready to prove, at any time, his identity and legality of his being in Arizona."

The horror is apparently catching on. Adrian Gonzalez told FanHouse he'd boycott next year's All-Star Game "because it's a discriminating law."

Yes, just as theft laws discriminate against thieves, illegal immigration laws discriminate against illegal immigrants. Or as MSNBC breathlessly flashed in headline:

"Law Makes It A Crime To Be Illegal Immigrant."

Terms like Brownshirts, vigilantes, apartheid and Republican are being thrown around. Al Sharpton has landed. The celeb crowd has taken its standard morally superior stance.

Shakira weighed in, saying "Some of the darkest moments in human history -- persecution of Jewish people, segregation in the American South and ethnic cleansing around the world -- began just like this."

Today, they're rounding up shortstops in Phoenix. Tomorrow, they're putting you in a cattle car for having a Spanish accent.

People are so busy demagoguing you wonder if they've actually read the law. It's 16 pages that grant police broader powers to identify and arrest illegal aliens....(more here)

I am guessing that just about everybody who is denouncing this law has NOT read the bill, or they are not actually legal Americans themselves. It belies belief that any true American would take issue with protecting their own basic laws. I must admit that in order to be for this law, in support of what Governor Brewer is advocating, you probably need to turn off all media and do your own research, starting with reading the actual law yourself.

This topic has had a lot of airtime where I live, and not once have I heard it correctly named as addressing ILLEGAL immigration. It is always just talked about as the 'immigration bill' which is patently wrong and misleading. America does, and always has, welcomed legal and legitimate immigrants. America is a country of immigrants, and I doubt very much that will change any time soon. There is a vast difference though between those who apply through the proper channels to become a legitimate part of the rich American motif, and those who take short cuts, illegal routes, across Arizona ranch-land for example.

Americans who have bothered to inform themselves are choosing to stand with Arizona and cheer them on. Meanwhile, cities such as Los Angeles, pass votes to boycott Arizona:

LA OKs Arizona boycott over tough immigration law

LOS ANGELES—The City Council voted Wednesday to boycott Arizona businesses, making Los Angeles the largest city to take such action to protest the state's tough new law targeting illegal immigration.

The 13-1 vote, which came after emotional discussion in which several council members recounted their immigrant ancestors, was largely symbolic since only a small percentage of the city's business dealings are affected.

"An immigrant city, an international city, (Los Angeles) needs to have its voice heard," Councilman Ed Reyes said. "It is crucial this great city take a stand." (more here)

I am betting that nobody on that council has read the law!

As various other cities and states align themselves with the 'Boycott Arizona' alliance, the majority of Americans are standing with Arizona as that state stands ready to defend their border and their citizens. The time is long past for every state in America to follow Arizona's lead and say 'no more illegal immigrants.' It is more than time for America to get deadly serious about protecting her own citizens within their own borders. It is that simple.

As Sarah Palin says: "We are all Arizonans now!"
