Following the creation of the "fishy" snitch line in the White House, and the creative response by more than a few Americans, a Republication finally has spoken up, and spoken out, in a letter directed to the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania. I found the following at Faultline USA:

Sen. John Cornyn Attacks Obama's Enemies List

The following press release just came in from Sen Cornyn's office:

Sen. Cornyn Calls On White House To Immediately Stop Compiling Political Enemies List

Sends letter to President Obama expressing grave concern over new White House program to monitor speech of American citizens’ with opposing political views

WASHINGTON—In a letter to President Obama, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, expressed serious concern about the White House’s new program requesting Americans to forward email chains and other communications opposing the President’s health care policies. Sen. Cornyn is seeking assurances that the program is being carried out in a manner consistent with the First Amendment and America’s tradition of free speech and public discourse.

Sen. Cornyn’s letter also inquires about the collection of names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens that will be reported, which raises the specter of a data collection program.

“I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy’ or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests,” Sen. Cornyn wrote....

Voices of Iran : Neda

I really don't know where to begin with commentary about all that is going on in Iran today. Some would say I don't need to say anything, since the video above that I found on YouTube yesterday speaks far more forcefully than I ever could. THIS is what the face of Iran looks like today.

And the rest of us? Well, reports say that the Canadian Embassy in Tehran is closed for the weekend, and therefore not taking in the injured from Tehran streets as other embassies are reportedly doing. I don't know if this is true, but if it is I have to ask "why?":... Yes, embassies typically offer assistance to their own nationals abroad, BUT since when did non-political compassion need mandating for ANY embassy for ANY in need?

Of course, I am old enough to remember 1979 when our Ken Taylor quietly took in US citizens to the Canadian embassy. This was as Iranian "students" took over the US embassy. There was no public announcement of what Mr Taylor was doing, or the role of Canadian helping our allies. Only later did the world get to hear the harrowing details about what Canada had actually done to help. I hope and pray the Canadian embassy in Tehran IS stepping forward - even discreetly - to help the Iranian population. Compassion needs no national flag.

Then we come to the CBC. Yes, again. Turned on my radio to check out the content of the Sunday Morning national current affairs programme. Not one mention of Tehran or what is going on there. This may be a good thing, given the fuzzy commentary that comes from the CBC some days, but hello? Not even a five second acknowledgement, on a three hour programme, that blood is running in the streets of Tehran? My tax dollars at work.

Meanwhile, Neda becomes the human face of the brutality of the Iranian regime. As you all probably know by now, Neda means "voice" in Farsi, and these pictures of Neda gunned down in the streets will - I suspect - resonate as the "voice" of freedom for many Iranians.

Today, "they" came for the Iranians, and the president of the USA went for ice cream. Tomorrow? The insanity continues.

Apparently the notorious and rejected MIAC Militia report is now being used by the TSA to harass American Patriots. Shame on this young man for asking TSA to explain what law he had broken! After watching this video it’s pretty obvious who the game players were.

Stimulus package a "done deal"??? Not so fast

President BO may have thrown a hissy fit (and is there anything sadder than a grown man throwing a temper tantrum as he did at the Democrat 'retreat' yesterday?), and he may have managed to sweet talk Senator Susan Collins into "going along to get along," but the American public is saying loud and clear "NO stimulus!" Heck, even John McCain is refraining from reaching across the aisle (so far).

According to this morning's Chicago Tribune, a deal was hammered out Friday that will bring about the passage of this dreadful stimulus package, and Republicans may delay the vote until early next week, “but there was little doubt about the outcome.”

Senators said the legislation, which is a cornerstone of Obama's efforts to revive the economy, would carry a price tag of about $820 billion under the compromise deal, though the final figure was unclear. The bill is expected to cost about the same as the $819 billion approved by the House and far lower than the bill as amended on the Senate floor, which had grown to more than $930 billion.

The dirty so-called “Stimulus” deal is almost done with these turncoat Republican Senators we have to thank:

Three GOP moderates — Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania — quickly declared their support for the compromise. But two other GOP moderates — Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and George Voinovich of Ohio — said they would oppose it.

CBS Poll: Support For Stimulus Falls

According to a new CBS Poll nearly half of America is against the stimulus package because they do not believe it will shorten the recession.

(CBS) Slightly more than half the country approves of President Obama's $800 billion-plus stimulus package, a new CBS News poll finds. But support for the bill has fallen 12 points since January, and nearly half of those surveyed do not believe it will shorten the recession.

Contact your Senators today and tell them you don’t want this pork and redistributed beans package!
