IRS: It ain't over ...

It's official: Lois Lerner who infamously pleaded 'the 5th' when asked questions about her role in targeting Conservatives wielding the IRS hammer, will not face any criminal charges.  Surprised?  No, me neither, given the climate these last few years in DC and the DoJ 'leadership' of Eric Holder.

From Allen West:
Department of Justice announces NO CHARGES in IRS scandal…

Actually, I suppose it shouldn’t be shocking at all. President Obama’s Department of Justice (DOJ) just announced there will be NO charges against IRS official Lois Lerner following its investigation.

As the Washington Times reports:
IRS official Lois Lerner will not face charges following a Department of Justice investigation.
Federal prosecutors announced their decision Friday in a letter to members of Congress....

[...]
It is truly sad how unsurprising it is that under President Obama’s administration, targeting people and organizations for the “wrong” beliefs is completely acceptable....

[...]

No surprise, either, that Obama’s DOJ chose to slip this announcement quietly through late on a Friday afternoon — no man’s land as far as news goes....

End of story, right? Nothing to see here. Move along.  (That IS the Obama way, after all.)
Well perhaps not. Today comes word that the House GOP is moving to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen.  You remember him.  His insistence that  'to the 'best of my knowledge...blah blah...'

House GOP moves to impeach IRS chief

By Peter Schroeder - 10/27/15

House Republicans have moved to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, arguing he violated the public trust.

Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) introduced an impeachment resolution Tuesday, days after the Justice Department concluded its investigation into IRS targeting of Tea Party groups with no charges filed.

“Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust. He failed to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, documents were destroyed on his watch, and the public was consistently misled,” Chaffetz said in a statement. “Impeachment is the appropriate tool to restore public confidence in the IRS and to protect the institutional interests of Congress.”...

[...]

Much of the committee’s impeachment charge centers around the destruction of several backup tapes that could have contained missing emails sent by Lois Lerner, the former official at the center of the IRS’s improper scrutiny of conservative groups.

Chaffetz’s resolution charges that Koskinen, who took over the IRS after the controversy emerged, failed to preserve 422 backup tapes that could have contained Lerner emails.

Republicans have argued Koskinen was not truthful when he told lawmakers he would hand over all her documents, given the destruction of the backups. Chaffetz also charged that Koskinen failed to notify Congress the evidence was missing....

Finally from Darrell Issa on social media commenting on a CNN report:

The Justice Department’s decision to close the IRS targeting investigation without a single charge or prosecution is a low point of accountability in an Administration that is better known for punishing whistleblowers than the abuse and misconduct they expose. After stating that their investigation confirms that Tea Party and conservative groups were improperly targeted, they dismiss it merely as a byproduct of gross mismanagement and incompetence – ignoring volumes of evidence in the public record and efforts to obstruct legitimate inquires.

Americans’ faith in government and in the IRS in particular, has been greatly eroded by an Administration that when confronted with instances of misconduct appears complicit in shielding those involved from responsibility. Giving Lois Lerner a free pass only reinforces the idea that government officials are above the law and that there is no consequence for wrongdoing.

And there you have it.

Stay tuned.

IRS: Is Lois Lerner a criminal?

Thus far, Lois Lerner has managed to evade/avoid the official title of 'criminal'.  Thus far, she has not been convicted in a court of law of illegal activity.

However, today, Darrell Issa has this update - on social media - about ongoing investigations into the 'shady' dealings that Lerner has refused to account for:

Many have asked for updates on what steps are being taken in the Lois Lerner case. The answer is that the Treasury Inspector General’s investigation is still in progress.

Most recently, the Inspector General’s office was able to forensically retrieve 6,400 of Lois Lerner’s e-mails. The IRS had testified falsely, before Congress and in federal court, that the emails had been lost when Lerner’s hard drive crashed, and could not be recovered.

Deputy Inspector General Timothy Camus has publicly confirmed what most already suspected: that there is “potential criminal activity” in the IRS’ targeting of conservatives and the subsequent cover-up. The Inspector General’s thorough investigation should continue until the full truth is exposed.

Video: IRS - Issa hammers Commish

Obama famously declared - before any serious investigation - there is 'not a smidgen of corruption' in the IRS.

Apparently, not too many are buying that.  Take a look as Issa tells FOX News what he intends for the ongoing grilling of the IRS Commissioner:

As yesterday's Hearing got underway, Issa made this opening statement:

Things went downhill from there.  Current IRS Commissioner John Koskinen's smirk - his arrogance - took a beating,  and he was schooled,  even as Koskinen continued to claim 'I know nothing, I saw nothing wrong'...

Note to Koskinen: The internet  is forever.  WE the People are also tired of your game playing:

Much as you may wish, THIS scandal is NOT going away. You have lots more 'splaining to do.

 Pay attention, America....

Entrenched Complacency Ensures Enslavement of Americans

A VERY important column from War On Terror News:

06/13/2013

Entrenched Complacency Ensures Enslavement of Americans

It does not surprise me that the most powerful politicians and their appointees feel impervious to the constraints of the Constitution.  Those that seek power, ferociously guard the power they've attained, while seeking more to obtain.  They'll do whatever they can get away with to obtain and retain power.  It's as a natural a characteristic as a lion eating a gazelle.  In recognition of that, the Founders constrained the government and politicians, and emplaced protections and rights for the People.
What astounds me is that the American People are not outraged by the abuses of power exposed in recent weeks and months.  It has been one scandal after another, each more comprehensive and abusive than the one before it.  It is more surprising that some of the media has condemned some of the scandals than that they've worked overtime to condone the scandals.

This cycle began with Benghazi, and an obvious lie by the Administration that it was 'just a protest turned violent.'  It took months, but Congress was beginning to get to the heart of the matter, that the Administration wasn't just asleep at the wheel, but willfully turned the lights and phones off.  It ignored months' worth of pleas from diplomats for more security, including on the day of the attack.  It ordered re-inforcements to not assist.  Those who work for the State Department should have been upset.  Those with a military background are and were angry.

More recently, we learned that the IRS was targeting the  ruling party's opponents.  The IRS has become a tool and force to paralyze the effectiveness of groups that support the US Constitution, and call for smaller government.  Supporters of the party in power were less apt to be upset than those that were affected by the un-Constitutional targeting by an arm of the Government.

Then we learned that the Justice Department had seized the phone records of AP employees and a Fox news journalist.  The MSM was finally mad.  True Americans of every stripe condemned the seizures as unlawful, and against the 4th Amendment.

More recently, we learned that a Judge had ordered Verizon to provide the data of every single one of it's customers to the NSA.  The information collected is so enormous that the data is updated every single day.  Then we learned the NSA was also collecting information via Google, Facebook, and other web based programs, with a program called "Prism."  The internet giants deny they accepted their role in it, but that doesn't mean much.  The government may have worked with or without the permission of the corporations.  Nor can we reasonably expect honesty from those corporations, particularly since they are already snooping on their users.

The worst part about that is not that leaders of both parties knew about it, and defend it, but that so few Americans find anything wrong with it.  The Politician in Chief has confirmed that the programs exist, and defends the "necessity" of it.  The Speaker of the House defends the program.  The Senate Minority Leader condemns not the program, but the individual that leaked evidence of it.  There's no one truly denying that the government is spying on every single American, on either side of the aisle, and very few that say there's anything wrong with it.

Sure, there are a few Americans out there screaming bloody murder about the obvious and serious abuses of the Bill of Rights by the government, and they are the same ones that have been trying to wake up Americans for years.  At a time like this, those that have been noting the abuses for years, should be sitting back and thanking newcomers to reality.  The public outrage should be deafening.

So, why isn't it?...
