Vance described Brown, a Niagara, Ont., area reservist who had been a police special constable in his civilian life, as someone who "always had an infectious smile on his face, no matter what the challenge." Brown is survived by a wife and four children.Fortin, who was based in Bagotville, Que., was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens and known to his comrades as Dany-O, Vance said.
O'Quinn was "a proud, dedicated soldier, who had a bright future ahead of him," Vance said. "He could accomplish anything in his life and everyone had the same faith in him."... (here)

Three Canadian soldiers were killed and two injured in Afghanistan after an improvised explosive device detonated near their armoured vehicle.Warrant Officer Denis Raymond Brown, Cpl. Dany Fortin and Cpl. Kenneth O'Quinn were killed Tuesday evening when a roadside bomb detonated during a patrol in Arghandab District, about 10 kilometres northwest of Kandahar City, said Brig.-Gen. Jon Vance.
The soldiers were sent into the area as part of Canada's Quick Reaction Force to respond to a call by the Afghan National Police after an IED was found on the main supply route, said Maj. Rob Dunn.
The soldiers were able to defuse that bomb and were returning to base when their patrol struck another roadside device, Dunn said....

I am sorry for the loss to your Country Brat. I know that we are a lot alike in our love for soldiers. Every hero that falls is a heartache for a patriot. (((hugs))) I will certainly say a prayer for grace for these families.
