Ft Hood Murderer to stand trial and face death penalty

Army colonel recommends trial in Fort Hood case


DALLAS – A senior military official has recommended that an Army psychiatrist should stand trial and face the death penalty for last year's deadly Fort Hood shootings.

Lead defense attorney John Galligan says Col. James Pohl issued the initial recommendation Tuesday. The final decision on whether Maj. Nidal Hasan will stand trial rests with a commanding general.

Galligan told the Associated Press Wednesday that Pohl is recommending that Hasan be court-martialed on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at the Texas Army post....(here)
