Well deserved, and a story that warms my heart:

Military medics' work recognised

Lt Gen Louis Lillywhite
Lt Gen Lillywhite is Britain's highest-ranking military medic

The work of Britain's military medics has been recognised in the New Year Honours List.

Medical personnel ranging from the surgeon general, Lt Gen Louis Lillywhite, to field hospital commanding officers are being rewarded.

Lt Gen Lillywhite, Britain's highest-ranking military medic, is appointed a Companion in the military division of the Order of the Bath.

He said: "Looking after our patients is very much a team effort."

He added: "I am delighted to receive this award and I congratulate my professional colleagues whose superb work in caring for our casualties has also been acknowledged by today's awards.

"Looking after our patients is very much a team effort, and I pay tribute to everyone who plays a role in the excellent standard of care we offer to our armed forces.

"Together, they represent a pathway of care that links the first responders and field hospitals in Afghanistan and Iraq to the military and civilian centres of excellence in the UK."...(read more at the BBC here)

And there is a complete list of all the military honorees over at the MoD site here.

Congratulations to all!
